Science EditorFloyd E. Bloom, editor-in-chief of the prestigious journal Science since 1995, was a guest speaker for the division's Storer Life Science Lectures program in April. He presented two public lectures, "Knowing About Knowing About the Brain" and "AIDS and the Brain." Bloom is chair of the Department of Neuropharmacology at The Scripps Institute in La Jolla, Calif., where he studies the complex problems of human neurophysiology and neuropathology, including drug addiction, the chemical basis of alcoholism, and the dementia associated with HIV infection.
