AlumniRobert Tracy, Ph.D., Microbiology, 1997, received the Nat L. Sternberg Thesis Prize for 1998 from the American Society for Microbiology for the most outstanding Ph.D. thesis in prokaryotic molecular genetics. Tracy’s thesis adviser was Stephen Kowalczykowski, professor and chair of microbiology. Tracy is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Norris Comprehensive Cancer Center of the University of Southern California School of Medicine.Eugene Tanimoto, Ph.D., Plant Physiology, 1994, is a staff scientist in the Scientific Liaison Group at Affymetrix, Santa Clara, Calif. Tanimoto works on technology improvement, customer relations, and training. Chaoqiang Lai, a former postdoctoral researcher in Professor Charles Langley’s laboratory in Evolution and Ecology, is also a staff scientist at Affymetrix.
